The Queen’s College Translation Exchange (QTE) is an outreach and advocacy centre based at The Queen’s College, Oxford. Our mission is to inspire lifelong engagement in languages and international culture, and in particular to inspire young language learners to continue with their studies through their schooling and beyond. We train university students to deliver translation workshops in schools, hold public engagement events for readers of all ages, and run a major national competition for pupils aged 11-18, the Anthea Bell Prize for Young Translators. With an emphasis on translation as a creative, inspiring and inclusive activity, these programmes channel university students’ expertise in translation and their enthusiasm for international culture into enriching experiences for young people and adults.
The successful candidate will be a self-starter with excellent communication skills, who will work closely with the Director, Charlotte Ryland, to run and develop all QTE’s programmes. There will be opportunities for the successful candidate to contribute to QTE’s development by proposing and working on new initiatives and initiating new partnerships. The postholder will be expected to work in the QTE office in central Oxford at least one day a week, but will have access to working space in the office five days a week. This location may change as per the needs of the College and the role. The role will include some evening and weekend work, the successful candidate will be able to meet these requirements. The College is committed to fostering equality, diversity and inclusiveness. We encourage applications from anyone that is from an underrepresented background
